F.R.I.E.N.D.S. provides social and community based services such that address the following:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Descriptions of all of our community based programs are provided below. A single enrollment application is provided below for Out and About, Parents Night Out, and our other social skills programs. Condensing this information into a single application allows for less paperwork and less duplication of basic information. The Super Duper Social Skills Group is offered to Richmond Hill residents only. It's enrollment application is separate from the FRIENDS Program Enrollment Application and can be found at the bottom of this page.  All children must meet program eligibility requirements to be considered for acceptance.  Funding assistance is provided by the following Family Support Agencies: B&B Services, Easter Seals, Gateway Behavioral Health and Ogeechee Behavioral Health. Funding is limited, so apply early. Completed enrollment applications are to be emailed to us at info@friendsofcoastalga.com or faxed to 888-558-9897. Session schedules, locations and the program enrollment application are available below for your convenience.

Out and About with FRIENDS - SESSIONS TEMPORARILY SUSPENDED DUE TO LACK OF FUNDING

This program provides two, three-hour social skills outings per month for children and young adults with Autism and other developmental disabilities. Each outing includes round-trip transportation to/from predetermined pick-up location(s), social skills coaching, and hands-on learning activities/events. Goal-oriented data will be collected during each outing. Each child’s strengths and deficits will be recorded on the “Out and About Event Report” and recommendations will be provided to the parents on how deficits can be improved. All participants will also receive an Out and About T-Shirt to wear during all outings.

For 2018-2019 sessions, only the 2nd and 4th Saturday 10 AM - 1 PM and 2 PM - 5 PM sessions will be conducted.

Cost: $60 per session

Parent's Night Out - SESSIONS TEMPORARILY SUSPENDED DUE TO LACK OF FUNDING

Parent's Night Out offers 4 hours of respite to parents/guardians of children with Autism and other disabilities once a month. Children will be engaged in fun, exploratory games that aim to improve their  communication and social skills and they will be exposed to outdoor physical activities which foster cooperation and team building.  Neuro-Typical siblings are strongly encouraged to participate!  ABA Trained staff will provide optimal supervision to all children who are in attendance. 

Cost: $55 per session

Cooking with FRIENDS - Currently Not Offered

Cooking is a great way to involve children in tasks that will improve upon a variety of functional and academic skills. Some of these skills include: listening and reading skills, nutrition education, sequencing, meal planning, math and measurement, and social skills. This program provides four, one-hour cooking sessions a month from August to May for children and young adults with Autism and other developmental disabilities. Following each session, parents will be notified of their child’s performance and will be given feedback on how their child can improve upon their deficits. Aprons are included in session fee.

Cost: $30 per session and $30 annual, non-refundable registration fee

Employing  FRIENDS

Employing F.R.I.E.N.D.S is an on-site, one-on-one vocational program designed to help teenagers obtain functional job skills such as: listening and reading  comprehension, social cues, and appropriate social interaction. Teens are expected to obtain the skills of becoming a potential waitress/waiter at the Carey Hilliard's Restaurant. Duties will include taking orders, delivering food and beverages to customers, and cleaning. Only teens selected by FRIENDS can participate in this program. Chosen teens will receive one, two-hour sessions per week and will be placed under close supervision of a FRIENDS ABA Therapist. Teens are allowed to keep all tips they earn during their sessions. Completion of liability waiver below is required. Participants must wear black Dickie khakis or black dress pants and TredSafe slip resistant shoes. These items can be purchased at Wal-Mart.

Cost: $50 per session

Fitness with FRIENDS - Currently Not Offered

Fitness with F.R.I.E.N.D.S is designed to enhance sensory and gross motor skills such as running, catching, throwing, balancing, whole body movements. Autism Movement Therapy curriculum will be utilized to combine music with movement to enhance and improve behavior, cognitive, and social skills. Four, one-hour sessions will be offered per week. 

Cost: $20 per session

Teen Club - Currently Not Offered 

Positive peer interaction, relationship building, and FUN is what Teen Club is all about.  Pre-teens/teens and young adults ages 12-21 will participate in one, two-hour session per month. Activities aim to promote and improve cooperative and team building skills, appropriate role playing scenarios, and self-sufficiency.  

Cost: $10 per session

Ages: 12-21

Caring for FRIENDS

Respite based Caring for FRIENDS provides parents and caretakers an opportunity to run errands or enjoy a break from day-to-day routines to relax. Trained staff members will provide supervision within the home during each session and, on limited occasions (based on behaviors), may take children out into the community (area playgrounds, ice cream parlors, movie theaters). Fees for select outings (movie tickets, restaurants) will be the sole responsibility of the parent/guardian.

Cost: $13 per hour (minimum of 3 hours per session)

Super Duper Social Skills Group - Discontinued

This social skills program provides age appropriate activities to stimulate thought, creativity, and expressive communication. Meetings are held from 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM Monday-Friday in Richmond Hill, Georgia. Please be advised that SDSSG is closed on teacher work days, holidays, and other school closures. Themed days include the following:

Mondays - Artistic Expressions/Creation Station 

   Students will explore different art techniques using various materials to express feelings and enhance creativity.

Tuesdays - Community Connections

  Community interaction is key in connecting with the world. Students will learn appropriate means of interacting with people 

  within their community by effectively communicating their thoughts and needs (e.g. ordering a meal, asking for                         help/directions), and gaining self-sufficiency skills in a safe, fully supervised environment.

Wednesdays - Fitness/Cooking

  Bodies in motion is what fitness is all about! Students will engage in fun physical activities which aim to strengthen muscles,   promote endurance, and improve motor skills. On select Wednesdays, student will participate in simple cooking activities. 

Thursdays - Group Games/Music and Movement

  Group Games and Music and Movement uses fun and energetic games which foster cooperation, gross motor skills, and             verbal   communication. 

Fridays - Move Madness

   Family friendly movies will be shown on Fridays.

Cost: $70.00 per week flat fee; no part-time rates offered. 

Ages: 6-16
